UNESCO Club Slovakia: Our journey since 2012

UNESCO clubs, centers, and associations are groups of volunteers of various ages and professions who dedicate their free time to promoting the ideals of UNESCO.
They operate under the auspices of National Commissions for UNESCO and are organized into regional, national, and international networks, which facilitates joint activities within UNESCO’s fields of competence.
Given the growing role of civil society in shaping public policy, UNESCO’s strategies—developed in cooperation with other civil society partners—play a significant role in the process of sustainable development.
On March 15, 2016, our club received certification confirming its inclusion in the network of UNESCO clubs. The club currently operates with the following leadership:
Marcel Koleštík – Executive Chairman
Ing. Jozef Bašary – Vice-Chairman
Mgr. Juraj Vohnout, PhD. – Vice-Chairman
UNESCO Club Slovakia Council
Eva Biarincová, Mgr. Janka Bagiová, Rudolf Likavčan
Audit Committee
Chairperson of the Audit Committee: JUDr. Dominika Bašaryová
Audit Committee Member: Monika Koleštíková
Audit Committee Member: Štefan Sališ
UNESCO clubs engage in a wide variety of activities, depending on the interests of their members and the financial resources they are able to secure. The UNESCO Club Slovakia focuses on initiatives in the fields of culture and education. Each of our projects promotes the dissemination of UNESCO’s principles and goals within civil society. Beyond education and culture, we also strive to foster dialogue between cultures and generations in support of sustainable development.
The UNESCO Club Slovakia was established on October 15, 2012, at the initiative of the UNESCO Club Kroměříž, which was seeking a competent partner in Slovakia for cross-border cooperation.
On March 15, 2013, our club received certification confirming its inclusion in the network of UNESCO clubs in the Slovak Republic. Throughout 2013, we established several active international partnerships, and we remain open to collaborating with other potential partners.
